Courses we Offer
At JJ MARITIME we specialize in providing top-notch marine training services in association with the Passenger & Commercial Vessel Association of Canada (PCVA) and Transport Canada Marine Safety. We take safety training seriously. Our instructors help you succeed, pass your exams, and provide useful knowledge to begin and/or further your career in the marine industry.
SVOP
Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
This is a Transport Canada approved course for small vessel captains and crew.3 to 4 days (26 hours inclusive of exams).
It covers minimum training for owners and operators of small commercial vessels, specifically: Workboats and passenger vessels up to 5 GT (~8.5 meters),and fishing vessels of up to 15 GT (~12 meters),
SDV – BS
Small Non Pleasure Basic Safety
This is a Marine Emergency Duties boating safety course. It is the minimum training requirement for captains and crew on small non-pleasure (commercial) vessels.
DPVS
Domestic Passenger Vessel Safety
This course was developed to comply with the requirements of the Marine Personnel Regulations on minimum training in personal survival techniques and firefighting for Canadian seafarers sailing on board passenger vessels engaged on a voyage in Canadian waters. The new DPVS course replaces the old MED A1 and A2 courses. This course is 23 hours and has practical elements taking place in a pool and with firefighting equipment.
SSPV – CP
Small Seasonal Passenger Vessel Safety Certified Personnel
This is a Marine Emergency Duties boating safety course. It is the minimum training requirement for captains and crew on small non-pleasure (commercial) vessels.
SPV – NCP
Seasonal Passenger Vessel Safety Non Certified Personnel
This six hour course is for non-certificated personnel on passenger vessels on a short-term basis, i.e. seasonal bartenders, deck hands, service staff, etc.
